EU will support green projects with more than €100 million within the LIFE programme

In order to promote climate-neutral Europe, the European Commission will invest more than €100 million in new LIFE Programme projects.

Integrated projects improve citizens' quality of life by helping member states comply with EU legislation in six areas: nature, water, air, waste, climate change mitigation and climate change adaptation. Allocated funds will support projects in Cyprus, Estonia, France, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Spain.

Project coordinators presented current state of measures at welcome meeting in Brussels. Slovak project aims to improve the air quality and reduce the exposure of population to harmful impacts of air pollutants and support effective air quality management through the creation of a national network of Air Quality Managers.

The LIFE programme is the EU's funding instrument for the environment and climate action. It has been running since 1992 and has co-financed more than 5,400 projects across the EU and in third countries.
